This year FDC is organized for the 6th time in Eräjärvi!

The one and only diabolo convention in Finland will be held again in the idyllic village school environment in Eräjärvi, Orivesi.

The 6th annual FDC will once again gather Finnish diabolo hobbyists and professionals together. The program includes workshops and performances from top performers in the field.

FDC has risen to one of the most followed diabolo events around the world in a very short period of time. Discussion and reviews about the event can be read in eg. www.diabolo.ca. Diabolo.ca is the most popular forum for discussion about diabolo culture. Articles about FDC have been written for Aamulehti and Kaskade in addition to local newspapers.

The idea of FDC is to offer Finnish diabolo hobbyists an opportunity to learn from the best and see new innovative diabolo juggling. The level of diabolo amongst Finnish youth is currently higher than anywhere in Europe. An event like FDC doesn’t exist anywhere else in Finland or Europe.

The abbreviation ”FDC” comes from the words Finnish Diabolo Convention. FDC is a festival-like convention that includes performances, workshops and obviously time together with friends. The event collects together hobbyists and professionals from all around the world to share tricks, ideas and thoughts. The event was organized for the first time in 2006 by Circus Supiainen. Organizers on site included: Samuli Männistö, Sirpa Uimonen and Laura Poranen. In 2008 Marko Akkanen from Circus Rubberduck joined the organizing crew. Today the event is organized mainly by Samuli, Marko and Sirpa. The location of the event is a small village in Western Finland called Eräjärvi, near the city of Orivesi.

The event culminates to an open high skill Diabolo! –gala show, which is traditionally hed on Sunday at 15.00. The diabolo gala has in recent years gathered much of the population of the village of Eräjärvi. About 100 of the 800 people living in Eräjärvi have attended the show. FDC is an important event for Eräjärvi.

During FDC an annual event called diabolothon is organized. The event combines athletics and diabolo and was created by the Finnish Diabolo Association in 2007.
